Michael and Matthew are 9 years, 11 months apart. They don't have everything in common; however, like all siblings, they do have their moments.
This past summer, on a hot day when running and playing outside just didn't sound too appealing, Michael took on the big brother role. Craig had given him spray paint (all the left over cans that were in the well house) and told him to go and paint our old weathered picnic table. Nathaniel had done a great job the weekend before sanding it down.
Michael made a stencil (a star) and said to his very whiney little brother (whiney cuz he wanted to play outside), "c'mon Matt, lets go do a project outside". With a squeal of delight, Matthew followed his big brother out back and for 2 hours the two worked on the picnic table. Michael sprayed while Matthew held the star shaped stencil.
It was one of many sweet "brotherly" times when they bonded. The picture is so sweet and someday, they will both cherish and appreciate the times they spent together.
Next project for Mom, take a picture and write about a time they didn't get along! You know, that doesn't sound so hard, but it is...because usually when those times are happening, Mom's in the middle of it all saying something like "c'mon now, he's your baby brother, he just wants to spend time with you...he looks up to you"...
