How could BLACK BATS be sooo cute???

Craig is not coaching Matthew's soccer team this year (he's in Wyoming). His new coach's name is Alice, and I'm the assistant.

The other day as we were leaving soccer practice....

Matthew: "I wish Daddy was the coach again."

Mom: "I know."

Matthew: "I don't know my new soccer teacher's name."

Mom: "Her name is Coach Alice and she's your soccer coach."

Matthew: "Oh. She's pretty."

Mom: "Yes, she is. I'm glad you like her."

Matthew: "Ya. But I still like Daddy being the coach. You are a good coach too Mom."

Mom's thought: "That was nice of him to throw me that little bone at the end...wasn't it?" :o)

Matthew continues to crack us up...

On 6/30/08 in the car with Daddy after a swimming lesson...
"When I wear swimming trunks it kinda bothers my privacy."

May of 2008 in the car with Nathaniel and Daddy...
Nathaniel: "I have gas."
Matthew (immediately after that comment and very serious): "Control it, keep it in!"

Tonights Wildcat Football Game...

MAN! I'm sooo glad I didn't miss this game! It was amazing...let me tell you about it!

OK tonight was parents night at the game. That's where parents escort the players onto the field and Bob takes pictures of each player with their parents/siblings. Matthew and I walked with Michael... It was really nice.

So we played Hatch (usually they punish us!)...

From the start of the game until the end of the 4th quarter, we were ahead 13-6. It was a good game, but fairly uneventful.

So with less than a minute on the clock, Hatch scores and it's now 13-12. There's less than a minute on the clock and of course we think we've won, so people start leaving. The game's in the bag right????

After the touchdown, Hatch runs the ball into the endzone and scores another 2 points. So now, it's 13-14....WE'RE LOSING! Everyone was in shock....really.

With 25.1 seconds on the clock now, our boys run the ball maybe 20 yards and then are mowed down by the bears....after this, there is now only 3.9 seconds on the clock!

They hold on to the ball and on the second play, Ricky throws a rocket down the field into the end zone (with the ball in mid air, the clock hits 0.0 and EVERYONE is on the edge of their seats!). Dylan catches the ball in the end zone and our Wildcats score! It was truly AMAZING!

The game ended.

Glenn Beck on Sarah Palin

This is a nice video on Sarah Palin.
Whether you are Republican or Democrat, it's a nice video.

Monday, Monday, Monday

Today is truly a typical Monday.

Still sick... allergies and a cold/flu - double whammy!

Matthew has soccer practice today from 5:00pm - 6:00pm.
He likes going to practice. His legs hinder him a little bit, but he just perseveres.
He's such a sweet little boy. I am the assistant coach and enjoy being out there with him.

On Saturday, Matthew had a guitar lesson at 1:30. His instructor, Victor said he is musically inclined.... I'm telling you, watching him play and sing is soooo cute!
After the lesson, we went to a birthday party for a little girl in his class, Riley. It was at Pizza Hut and all the kids had a blast running around.

On Sunday Michael, Matthew and I went to a BBQ at Courthouse Park to support the HS Band and then we went to another park (we call it beaner park) to play on the toys.

Then morning came and the weekened was over.

Dad

Today I am sick. I have a head cold and I think it's moved to my chest again. Anyway, I feel worn down, and sad.
I miss my Dad today. More than I can express in words.

I wish I could pick up the phone and hear his voice.

I wish I could hug him. He had strong arms and a grip of a hug.

I wish I could tell him things.

I wish I had just one more day.

Snips and Snails & Puppy Dog Tails.....

I don't think so!

My boys are amazing. Growing up, I think because I always had sisters, I always assumed, dreamed, whatever...that I would have daughters. Little boys NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, entered my "when I grow up and have a family" thoughts.

Michael (17) was supposed to be a girl named Mikaela or Brooke; but you know...I am so glad he is Michael Aaron Pratt. Michael was a quiet, mild mannered, sweet little man who loved to "play and talk". Michael was always one of the tallest in his classes. His favorite toys were Aladdin and Jasmine action figures. His favorite shows were Aladdin and Sesame Street. He liked to do quiet, still things...drawing, catching bugs, building things with legos, etc. He liked food, and would eat almost anything. Today he likes to take pictures, watch movies, read, work on the computer, hang out with his friends, and play tennis/football. Michael and I are very close and enjoy each others company constantly. He's become one of my best friends.

Nathaniel (13) and I came into each others lives when he was already 5 years old so I can't tell you if they wanted a boy/girl or what names they picked out. BUT, I can tell you about him from 5 on.... Nathaniel was so small compared to Michael and had so much more energy. He liked to play outside on his bike/scooter, talk about cars, build with blocks, and watch action/science fiction shows. He was a VERY picky eater. Today he likes video games, being outdoors, watching science fiction/action movies, working on the computer, loves cars, and playing football. Nathaniel and I have gotten closer through the years. Now we share a love for music and enjoy each others company. He's a wonderful kid - we miss him LOTS when he's not with us...

Matthew (6) was supposed to be a girl named Emily or Meghan. He is a tiny, supercharged, energy mass who since birth is up early and going non-stop until he drops at night. Matthew rarely walks anywhere, even from the bathroom to wash up before dinner and back to the dinner table - he runs. He has this cute running in place to start, "Scooby-Doo" kind of run. He loves playing outside, transformers, Sponge Bob, running, cooking with Grandma, helping Daddy with whatever project he's doing, running, playing soccer, running, swimming, t-ball...especially batting, shoes, clothes, running, reading (at a 2nd-3rd grade level), and is VERY attentive and serious about school. Matthew is what I call a "hit and miss" eater. Sometimes he eats and loves everything and other times, he is as picky as his middle brother or his Daddy. Matthew is Daddy's boy and Mommy's angel, all wrapped up in one incredible kid!

Each of our boys is so unique and different. Special in their own way. It's fun to remember how they were and relish in how they are now.

I am so glad I have boys! Who knew...but I would never trade them!

Conversation with Granny...

Gran: Matthew, if you are in the Olympics in 10-15 years when you are older, what sport would you want to compete in?

Matthew: Running.

Thought for the day...

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Legg-Calve Perthes Disease (LCPD)

It hurts me that he hurts. When he wants so badly to run and play, and can't. No parent wants their child to suffer. There may be years of pain with Matthew's legs, but with prayer, hopefully the final outcome will be good and the pain kept to a minimum.
Above is Matthew's xray. Both legs are affected by this; however, his left as you can see is far worse and is in the stage where the head of the femur has lost its blood supply and has broken down. Matthew has the Herring classification of the disease. The link below describes that classification in detail.
Please keep Matthew Craig in your prayers so the pain is minimal, the outcome of all this is good, and the future will keep him problem and arthritis free.

Legg-Calve'-Perthes Disease
The National Osteonecrosis Foundation
Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease is a rare disease of the hip that afflicts approximately 1 in 1200 children. Of those children, only about one in four are girls. About 5% of all diagnosed develop the disease in both hips (bilaterally). Most of these children are very active and often very athletic. The age of diagnosis is usually between 2 and 12 years old, with the average age of 6. Legg-Calve'-Perthes children tend to be of shorter stature due to delayed bone age. The purpose of this pamphlet is to provide you with more information to help you understand this condition and some of the treatments.

What is Legg-Perthes Disease?
Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease (LCPD) is a form of osteonecrosis of the hip that is found only in children. It is known by a few other names such as ischemic necrosis of the hip, coxa plana, osteochondritis and avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Most commonly it is called Legg-Perthes disease, LCPD, or Perthes.

LCPD is of unknown origin. It is known that bone death occurs in the ball of the hip due to an interruption in blood flow. As bone death occurs, the ball develops a fracture of the supporting bone. This fracture signals the beginning of bone reabsorption by the body. As bone is slowly absorbed, it is replaced by new tissue and bone.

Initial Phase
Reabsorption Phase
Reossification Phase/Healed

Four Stages of LCPD
1. Femoral head becomes more dense with possible fracture of supporting bone;
2. Fragmentation and reabsorption of bone;
3. Reossification when new bone has regrown; and
4. Healing, when new bone reshapes.
Phase I takes about 6-2 months, Phase 2 takes one year or more, and Phase 3 and 4 may go on for many years.

Who is at Risk?
There is no specific cause known for LCPD, however, there are some risk factors. Some of the factors identified as possible links include children who are small for their age and are extremely active. The disease is found more often in Asians, Eskimos, and Whites, with a much lower incidence found in Australian aboriginals, Native American, Polynesians and Blacks. Exposure to secondhand smoke is correlated with LCPD.

First Symptoms
The first symptoms characterized in LCPD are usually a limp and perhaps pain in the hip, groin, or knee (known as a referred pain). Often you will first notice limping during your child's active play. They usually cannot tell you an instance when they hurt themselves. They may not be able to tell you exactly where they hurt, especially if the pain is referred toward the knee area. They may not even experience much pain. Other cases may not be diagnosed until some precipitating event (fall, twisting injury) leads to an x-ray that uncovers the previously undiagnosed Legg-Calve'-Perthes disease.
Diagnosis
Initial diagnosis will require an x-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or bone scan. Other diagnostic measures may include tests for limitation of abduction, a measurement of the thigh to determine muscle atrophy, and tests to determine the child's range of motion.

Extent of Disease
It is rare for a patient to have whole head involvement. However, age can play an important role in the prognosis of the disease. New bone growth typically reshapes better in younger children and it may improve with growth.

There are several different classifications used to determine severity of disease and prognosis.

The Catteral Classification specifies four different groups to define radiographic appearance during the period of greatest bone loss.
The Salter-Thomson Classification simplifies the Catteral Classifications by reducing them down to two groups: Group A (Catteral I, II) which shows that less than 50% of the ball is involved, and Group B (Catteral Ill, IV) where more than 50% of the ball is involved. Both classifications share the view that if less than 50% of the ball is involved, the prognosis is good, while more than 50% involvement indicates a potentially poor prognosis.

The Herring Classification studies the integrity of the lateral pillar of the ball. In the Lateral Pillar Group A, there is no loss of height in the lateral 1/3 of the head and little density change. In Lateral Pillar Group B, there is lucency and loss of height of less than 50% of the lateral height. Sometimes the ball is beginning to extrude the socket. In Lateral Pillar Group C, there is more than 50% loss of lateral height.

Many doctors utilize these classifications as they provide an accurate method of determining prognosis and help in determining the appropriate form of treatment.

Prevention
There is no known effective preventative measure.

TREATMENT - The Goal
The goal of treatment is four-fold:I) to reduce hip irritability2) restore and maintain hip mobility3) to prevent the ball from extruding or collapsing4) to regain a spherical femoral head.
Types of Treatment
Often at the initial diagnosis, the physician may take a "wait and see" approach to get a clearer picture of the progression of the disease. As long as the patient's symptoms are mild, the physician may only prescribe physical therapy exercises to help maintain good range of motion. If the patient's mobility changes, then the physician may prescribe either non-surgical or surgical treatment.
Non-Surgical Treatment
Non-surgical treatments come in varying forms. Crutches are used for non-weight bearing treatment for pain. Casts, traction, and braces help return range of motion and mobility. Range of motion exercises may be given to you by your physical therapist to do with your child in the home.
Surgical TreatmentTenotomyA "Tenotomy" is a surgery that is performed to release an atrophied muscle that has shortened due to limping. Once released, a cast is applied allowing the muscle to regrow to a more natural length. Cast time is about six to eight weeks.

Osteotomy
There are different types of "osteotomies" (cutting the bone to reposition it) and, depending on the need they are performed at different stages of the disease. At times with the softening of the ball, there is the possibility of the ball slipping out of the socket. To protect it, a femoral varus osteotomy, with or without rotation partially redirects the ball into the socket.

Another approach to surgically treating Legg-Calve'- Perthes is to do an osteotomy above the hip socket. This allows the surgeon to reposition the hip socket in such a way that the femoral head will have less tendency to become deformed. The shelf arthroplasty gives added coverage of the ball from the top lip of the socket. Both the innominate and the shelf arthroplasty help in reshaping.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Studies on long-term results of LCPD indicate that the incidence of late degenerative osteoarthritis is dependent on two factors. If the ball reshapes well and fits well in the socket, arthritis is usually not a concern. If the ball does not reshape well, but the socket's shape still conforms to the ball, the patient will tend to develop mild arthritis in later adulthood. Patients who~ femoral head does not shape well and does not fit well in the socket usually develop degenerative arthritis before the age of 50.

Although Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease cannot be prevented, much has been accomplished toward minimizing its effects. Research and clinical studies continue to provide patients with better long-term results.

Conversation with Daddy...

This morning Matthew and I were on our way to bible school. Craig is working in Wyoming this week. Matthew called him to say good morning. Here's the conversation that transpired:

Matthew: "Hi Dad, miss you!"

Craig: "Hi Buddy, are you on your way to bible school?"

Matthew: "Ya, we're already driving there."

Craig: "Did you have a good morning?"

Matthew: "Ya... Hey Dad, the clouds fell on top of the mountain."

Craig: "Ya, sometimes they get tired of flying and have to stop and rest."

Matthew: "Okay. Love you Dad... wanna talk to Mom?"

Craig: "Yes, I love you too Bubba, have fun today."

It's summertime in the desert...

time to setup the beloved pool and cool off! It's been in the 100's here the past few days.

Yesterday it was 106 degrees when I was heading home from work at 4:45pm. Sheesh...that is just too damn hot!

Here's a couple pictures of our 3 handsome boys cooling off after a long day...
Even the 2nd picture (approx 8pm) was very warm out... UGH!

See the moon above the mountains?

Come see us and we'll share the sweaty heat and cool, crisp, pool water!

June 11th

On June11th, 2008, Matthew Craig Stevens turned 6 years old. To celebrate the momentus occasion, Grandma Beth cooked spaghetti (at Matthew's request) and we all gathered to have dinner, cake and ice cream.

In the midst of the iron man toys, games, and books I realized that my 5 year old was gone forever. 6 will be a wonderful age and first grade will bring so many new adventures... but I will sorely miss and remember fondly the Kindergarten days.

The youngest child is much like the oldest... With the oldest, everything is new and different. You savor each milestone and document everything. With the youngest, you know it's your last chance to enjoy these amazing childhood years... so again, you savor each milestone and document everything.

Let me tell you a little bit about Matthew Craig Stevens....for posterity reasons of course!

Matthew Craig Stevens, 6 years old, 41" tall, 33.8 lbs.
Matthew currently is playing coach pitch little league, which he enjoys and is quite good at. He is an excellent batter and plays a mean 2nd base! His first love; however, would be soccer. Matthew loves to run and is very fast. He typically outruns the taller kids on his teams and at school. So given this, soccer is his favorite sport. He is very coordinated and is good at soccer.

Matthew is an avid reader who is reading at about a second grade level. He loves books, especially scary ones or ones about bugs and creepy, gross things. Matthew loves movies (especially seeing them in the "feetier" or "theetier").

If you ask Matthew today what he wants to be when he grows up he will tell you "an inventor". "Why?", you would probably ask next.... "So I can invent an Ironman suit." Hello, WHY ELSE?

Matthew loves to hang out with his older brothers and do everything they do. He is sad when Nathaniel isn't with us. He adores Nathaniel and whenever possible, he dresses exactly like him (or as close as he can get his own wardrobe to match).

Matthew's best friend; however, is his Grandpa. They play, laugh, and crack each other up. What a lucky little boy.

Isreal is a friend who Matthew loves to be with. They play all day without issue. They stick up for each other with brotherly force and like the same things.

Some other friends Matthew likes to be around are Morgan (and her sisters), Jaedyn (who lives 2 doors down from Grandpa & Grandma), Frankie (his best friend at Chaparral Elementary), Rey and Ernesto (also friends at Chaparral).

Matthew misses his cousin Ben. Matthew and Ben if they lived closer I'm sure would be as close to brothers as 2 boys could be. One month apart in age, they are 2 peas in a pod. Not exactly the same in any respect, but just different enough to compliment each other. Matthew talks about Ben on a daily basis like he just saw him yesterday!

I'm sure I will think about more things to tell you about Matthew Craig Stevens, but for now I will take a break. It's summertime and he's busy working on his First Grade workbook. Gotta keep the mind sharp, so I am summerschoolin'!

I will post birthday party pictures this weekend after the Chuck E. Cheese party on Saturday.

Movin' on...

For those of you who don't know yet...

Craig recently accepted a promotion within Michelin. He will be working with their mine group as a Mine Account Manager. It's a great move for him and the job will be one I'm sure he will enjoy.
To keep the family together and close (our middle son lives in Las Cruces with his mom), Craig has turned down numerous (many, many) offers from the company to move up. Being the ONLY Michelin employee in the state of NM, there are no other options for moving up here. Moving up and being promoted means moving. Craig is loved within the Michelin community and very highly regarded in his trade. The last offer/request was to the Sacramento/Reno area, we turned that one down. Craigs boss did tell him this time, though, that this position was an excellent one for him and he was highly recommended for it.

He started his new position on June 1 and will be living full time in Wyoming August 1st. As of now, the plan is for the rest of us, Me, Michael, Matthew and Mom to stay in New Mexico until Michael graduates from High School. It will be hard and I am not sure how things will shake out in the end....we shall see.

Here are a few pictures we took in Wyoming when we were there in May. We actually got snowed in for 2 extra days! Can you believe that...in MAY!

http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=bzci2ff.9vo6xc5n&x=0&y=o1zyny&localeid=en_US

We loved it though. It is a beautiful place and will be a great adventure... I'll follow you anywhere baby!

I know this guy...

I know this guy. He's a dear friend...one of those I don't see but once every few months (if that) and still can just talk to like we hung out yesterday. That is a rare kind of friend. He is an absolutely brilliant musician. You can give him words you scribbled on paper, tell him your feelings about something, or even tell him about a dream in passing and he can put it to music in a way that will grab your soul and keep it!

Despite his brilliance, this guy; however, is constantly questioning his abilities. God has given him such great talent... No, he isn't the best speller and it's true, he can't always think of the right words or phrases he means in speaking....but we all have special gifts to offer the world.
His are HUGE and beautiful.

This guy...he has a heart of gold. He is compassionate and wonderful, kind, caring and sweet. He is someone you can talk to. You can tell him your deepest, most meaningful secrets and know they are safe. He listens without judging and only gives his opinion when he is certain it is correct enough to not do harm. He is beautiful and a wonderful friend.

We all have insecurities. Life is short and we all have goals we want to accomplish. The trick I think is remembering that despite the previous sentence... life is a gift and should be enjoyed, EVERY STEP, each endeavor, each person we meet, each life we affect/touch, each victory, each failure, every step we take has meaning at that point in our life.

Finding a soulmate will come, making our millions or finding the place we'll be for a while, deciding what job we want long-term...all that will come.

I hope this guy remembers that he is an amazing person with incredible heart and talent.
I hope this guy remembers that his true love will come... when it's right.
I hope this guy remembers that everyone he meets and every job he does changes his life.
I hope this guy remembers to smile everyday!

What Mom's and kids talk about in the car after school....

So Matthew and I were on our way to Burger King after school today. He is ALWAYS hungry when I pick him up at 3. So today, here's one of the topics we hit on...

Mom: So Matthew, how was your day?
Matt: Good.
Mom: Who'd you play with at recess?
Matt: Rey......pause....tomorrow is Caleb's birthday.
Mom: Cool, did you get an invitation?
Matt: No.
Mom: How come?
Matt: He's Alex's friend.
Mom: Oh.
Matt: Rey and Robert and Frankie are my friends. How long until Burger King?
Mom: What'd you have for lunch?
Matt: I don't remember, but now I want chicken fries. Can I get a drink, too?
Mom: Sure.
Matt: How long til Burger King.
Mom: We're here.
Matt: Yay.
Mom: 'order's a 9 piece chicken fries and a drink'
Matt: I need a 12 piece.
Mom: You didn't finish all 12 the last couple times.
Matt about 10 minutes and a few miles later: I'm done.
Mom: With what?
Matt: ALL.
Mom: no...??
Matt: uh-huh.

Learning the Cha Cha...

Craig, Kath & Michael took ballroom dancing class here at our gym. It was fun and we all learned the Cha Cha quite well. We love practicing...

Michael took the class with Julisa, one of his co-workers at the gym; however, Julisa and Craig couldn't make it to the last class so Michael and I went together. It was nice and we had a lot of fun! My baby got MOVES! :o)

Here's a few pictures of Michael dancing with our insctructor, Nicole...

We're almost ready!!!

We're almost ready for our horses! We are really excited for the fence and barn to be done so we can bring them home...
We are planning to ride in the Pancho Villa Parade on March 9th. As long as everything goes as planned we will be riding. The annual parade starts at the Mexico border (Palomas, Mx) and ends in the Village of Columbus, NM.
For now, we are concentrating on getting our fence up for Zip and Rage. The fence will go up just east of our house and will look amazing with the great Florida mountain view in the background.

Watching the Cowboys get defeated...

The Cowboys lost to the Giants, yes; however, Matthew and Daddy had fun watching the game anyway! Matthew had only one request before the game started and again after the game was over... "Can I have a Cowboys shirt like Daddy?"
So, I begin my quest to find one his size....

NEW MEXICO SUNSET

Some of the most incredible sunsets I have ever seen have been in the Southwest. Click the picture to get the larger, more intense effect of the picture!!

Daddy's little helper!

We re-did our bedroom recently. Matthew mopped and helped throughout the whole process. He's quite the trooper. We'll just call him Craig Junior...he is so much like his Dad.

Michael's Christmas in NY with his Dad and Step-Mom

Michael had a wonderful time in New York with his Dad and Dawn. He saw the sights and got to experience Christmas in a whole new way. He really enjoyed himself and their company.

What's in a letter???

In this letter I see hard work, a sense of team, a lot of effort, pride, accomplishment, drive, and so much more!

Michael worked hard this year in football. He played both Junior Varsity (certificate), and Varsity. He earned his letter, which he received at the Football Banquet on 12/3/07. He missed very few practices and no games. I am so proud of him. Playing football was waaay out of his comfort zone and not something I ever thought he would do; however, Michael has proven to be tough and determined. Michael is NOT a quitter.

He has learned teamwork and that being a part of a team is the ultimate reward. He has made friends and has gained the respect of his peers. Very important to life in High School and an excellent life lesson.

I am very excited to now go and help him pick out his letterman's jacket. Like I was, he will be so proud to wear it. We all beam with pride now and then when our children meet a milestone in life head-on and conquer it. Michael has met every milestone and challenge thus far with a wonderful attitude and I must say...it really makes me a little teary to think about how fast and beautifully he has grown up.

Michael, I am immensely proud of ALL your accomplishments, large and small.

Our 5th Annual Turkey Trot

Matthew ready to RUN!
...and they're off!!!

Michael and Jessica (volunteers) running with the 30+ kids who participated.

Matthew looks forward to the Turkey Trot every year.
This year, he got to run with his pal Israel (in the plaid).

Israel & Matthew race toward the finish line!
Almost there...

Freezing cold didn't stop these two troopers from finishing 7th & 8th!
Most excellent, superb, incredible boys!

Well we have made it successfully through another Ultimate Fitness Turkey Trot.

With 208 participants, all our hard work paid off once again.

Matthew ran the kids race for the 3rd year in a row. Last year he placed 8th out of 24 in the half mile run for kids ages 3-12. This year, he was 7th out of 36 in the one mile run. The kids participating were ages 3-15.

Granny and Michael volunteered...everyone had a great time and we got many compliments on our race.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy Matthew!!!

Matthew loves his big brothers!

This past weekend after our Thanksgiving lunch, Nathniel laid down on the floor to watch football and put his hands behind his head. Not 10 seconds after he laid down, Matthew noticed him there, leaped off my lap and joined his big brother...exactly the same way! It was so cute.

He loves them so much and looks up to them. Most of the time they don't even realize how he absolutely watches and adores everything they do and say, or how their reaction to him can change things he will do and say for weeks to come.

Matthew is lucky to have two great big brothers who are 90% of the time really sweet to him.

I wish I had a picture of him and Nathaniel laying there... next time I will be more prepared.

Now you can be a little fly on the wall.....

Matthew says the darndest things...really! Here's a little sample for ya...

A few days ago, Matthew and Daddy were driving home from town. The song playing on the radio was Montgomery Gentry's "Some People Change". Here are the main lyrics...

His old man was a rebel yeller:
Bad boy to the bone.
He'd say: "Can't trust that other fella,"
He'd judge 'em by the tone of their skin.
He was raised to think like his Dad:
Narrow mind full of hate.
On the road to no-where fast,
Till the Grace of God got in the way.
Then he saw the Light an' hit his knees an' cried an' said a prayer:
Rose up a brand new man; left the old one right there.

Here's to the strong; thanks to the brave.
Don't give up hope: some people change.
Against all odds, against the grain,
Love finds a way: some people change.

Matthew has heard this song many, many times.
On this day, here's a recap of the conversation it sparked...

Matthew: Dad...I change.

Dad: You do?

Matthew: Yes.

Dad: How?

Matthew: Well, I used to only like the meatballs in Spaghetti O's, and now I only like the noodles!

Our New Additions...

Meet the two new additions to the Stevens Family...

Zip (brown) and Pi (white Arabian).

Zip is old and is the perfect horse for kids Matthew's age. He is a horse you can crawl over, under and around without even a flinch on his part. He can't do long rides any more with a full sized person on his back, but for Matthew, he is perfect. Zip (originally from Washington State where he was a show horse) needed a place to spend his golden years.

Pi is a beautiful Arabian who is full of spunk and energy. He has been on many long rides all over.

They can't wait to meet you in person!
